Dr. Jamie Zampell
Dr. Zampell is a board-certified plastic surgeon with a specialization in reconstructive microsurgery. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Emory University in Atlanta, GA, graduating summa cum laude in Biology. She subsequently obtained her medical degree from Ohio State University School of Medicine. She went on the complete her plastic surgery residency training at New York University and subspecialty fellowship training in microsurgery at the University of California in Los Angeles.
Throughout her training, Dr. Zampell participated extensively in basic science and clinical research, including completion of a plastic surgery research fellowship with focus on lymphedema at Memorial Sloan-Kettering in New York. She has published numerous articles and book chapters, presented lectures, and gained competitive grant funding from the Department of Defense and Plastic Surgery Education Foundation for lymphedema and plastic surgery research.
Dr. Zampell has since developed a specialized focus in reconstructive surgery for breast cancer with a special focus on using autologous reconstruction, using a woman’s own tissue to rebuild the breast. Dr. Zampell most recently served as Director of Microsurgery at Ochsner Baptist Medical Center and clinical professor at LSU Health Sciences in New Orleans, partnering with renowned microsurgeon Dr. Robert Allen to develop a breast reconstruction center of excellence. Her current focus is to use these experiences to advance microsurgical techniques, continue to innovate and provide excellence in breast reconstruction to all patients.
Dr. Zampell continues to offer a variety of general plastic, cosmetic, and reconstructive surgeries. She is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons as well as the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery and maintains an interest in resident education.
