WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF SCAR CREAM?

WHY IS SUN EXPOSURE BAD FOR SCARS?

You should not expose your fresh, new scars to the sun because the harmful UV rays can permanently darken your scars.

For the first year after your surgery, you must protect your scars from direct sunlight. You should also consistently use sunscreen or a scar cream with SPF on your scars.

HOW LONG DO SCARS TAKE TO FADE?

Without scar treatments and other creams, scars can take up to two years to fade.

Unfortunately, your scars will always be visible to some extent as there is no way to eliminate them. You can, however, use scar creams to speed up the fading process.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I APPLY THE SCAR TREATMENT CREAM?

For optimal results, you should apply the scar cream once in the morning and once at night.

Spread the scar cream across the incision smoothly and allow it to absorb into the skin. The cream can be applied to your face, neck, chest, hands, and other areas often exposed to the sun.

HOW MUCH DOES BIOCORNEUM® SCAR CREAM COST?

You can buy the BIOCORNEUM® scar cream in Dr. Goldberg’s office after your surgery. The small tube is $50, and the large is $100. While you do not have to buy the BIOCORNEUM® scar cream to treat your post-operation scars, it is highly recommended. The BIOCORNEUM® scar cream makes a huge difference in minimizing the appearance of scarring.
